Heidi Coppock-Beard
Lancashire-born and now half Kiwi, half Yorkshire, Heidi Coppock-Beard credits her love of photography to watching her mum’s summer slide shows. At the end of every holiday, after bouncing around in the back of a VW camper with four siblings – pre–seat belts and hair conditioner – the family would get the slide film back and set up the projector. Maybe it was the howls of laughter, the mid-tones of 1970s film, or the hazy flare of summer light, but Heidi was hooked.
Over the past 25 years, Heidi has been chasing light ever since. Her camera has taken her around the world, capturing stories wherever she goes. Along the way, she’s worked with national and international brands, editorial teams, indie start-ups, and creative agencies – photographing food and people in all their messy, beautiful, delicious glory.
Every project begins with understanding the brand – getting under its skin and asking, what’s the story? Whether bold and playful, rustic and comforting, or sleek and modern, Heidi translates a brand’s personality into visuals you can almost taste. Her work isn’t just about making things look beautiful – it’s about creating images that linger, that leave an impression.
She’s endlessly drawn to the moments where light, colour, and texture come together to tell a deeper story – the glossy swirl of chocolate, the dusting of flour on worn wooden boards, or the fleeting magic of a dish caught in perfect light.
Collaboration is at the heart of Heidi’s process. Working closely with chefs, stylists, and creative teams, her shoots balance meticulous planning with happy chaos – always leaving space for spontaneity. The best results, she believes, come from embracing the unexpected.
As a director, Heidi brings the same creative energy to film, focusing on movement, rhythm, and storytelling. From slow-motion pours of golden syrup to playful stop-motion sequences, her directing style draws on her photography roots while allowing motion to take centre stage.
Working across brands and clients from the North and the South, Heidi Coppock-Beard’s goal is simple: to create work that stands out not just for its polish, but for its heart. She wants people to feel something when they see it – hunger, joy, nostalgia, or the simple comfort of a shared meal. For Heidi, every shoot is a new adventure, and the best work always happens when you leave a little room for the unexpected.
